Cricket World Cup v Rugby World Cup
Chris will explore the governance differences between the Cricket and Rugby World Cups, especially the learnings of running successful trans-Tasman events in conjunction with our Australian colleagues.
Chris is a former Director of both Cricket World Cup 2015 and Rugby World Cup 2011. He has served as Chairman of New Zealand Cricket and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union. In the latter capacity, against all odds, he successfully co-led, with Jock Hobbs, New Zealand's bid to host RWC 2011 following the loss of the co-hosting rights for the 2003 tournament to Australia. Chris has also sat on the Boards of the International Cricket Council and the International Rugby Board. Today he is Chairman of two large publicly listed companies, Meridian and Skycity, and the NZ Transport Agency. He is also a Director of Westpac New Zealand. Prior to his involvement in sport, Chris was Deputy Chief Executive of Fonterra.
The Institute of Directors runs events for people wanting to find out more about governance and leadership. For more information visit our website.
