New Zealand has a lot of milk. We produce millions of tonnes, that is billions of litres every year!

But farmers aren’t making any money. Problematic for a farming nation and not very sustainable. The dairy industry seems more bust than boom. We can try to ride it out, “She’ll be right mate, just a bit of a slump.” Grin and bear it, cut costs, production and hope milk price improves or consider it an opportunity for some Kiwi ingenuity. Join us at Scarecrow in peak milk production month for a dairy industry dinner. Chew the cud with a series of dishes that encourage thinking about how and what we eat. We push the tables together and serve some of the dishes family style. Is New Zealand the world's leading and innovative farming nation or are we turning to custard?

Menu subject to change, bookings essential.

Bread and butter, Wild Wheat sourdough, radishes, artisan and commodity butter. Can you taste the price difference? Which is better for the brand of New Zealand?

Cheese Substitutes, fresh “cheese” and asparagus salad, vegan, cow and goat cheese. Could you or should you give up cheese?

Milk braised Bobby calf, Veal cooked in milk, fried sage, celeriac gratin, seasonal greens. If we think Veal is ethically questionable should we drink milk?

Milk and Honey, Milk jam, PKE, seasonal fruits.
