Gathering of Geezers is an evening of fun and interaction with 300-350 guests mingling with over 25 of New Zealand’s best motorsport legends covering many disciplines from rally to saloon, jet boats to drag racing, speedway to bikes.

Our guests are from a cross section of key private businesses in the contracting, transport, cartage, logging, fishing, food processing, meat, aviation, tourism, ski fields, manufacturing, farming and of course motorsport industries.

Hear the tales of triumph and disasters, of near misses and close calls, of great life changing moments from some of the Geezers who take to the stage to regale you with their stories. A Geezer is a retired legend of motorsport who has won a major NZ or world title in the world of motorsport or has made a major contribution to the sport –across all disciplines.

This annual event is now in its fourth year and continues to grow with new ‘Geezers’ invited each year. This year a ‘Geezers in Training’ theme has been incorporated to enable some of the younger guns to attend. It’s a great evening celebrating Kiwi Motorsport with like-minded people while raising funds for charity at the same time through the charity auction on the night.

What is the Upper Clutha Children’s Medical Trust?
Solely manned by volunteers, the Wanaka based Upper Clutha Children’s Medical Trust was established in 2009 to support families in the Upper Clutha area who were struggling financially because of the demands placed upon them by their children’s health issues. It is the charity of choice for Warbirds & Wheels and Geezers is one of their main fundraising events with $12,000 raised at last year’s event alone.

Upper Clutha families often face greater expenses than city based families because of our distance from specialist services and care. Our area is the furthest distance from a base hospital in New Zealand and consequently travel for specialist consultations invariably involves an overnight stay.
Financial assistance has been provided to over 139 families across a diverse range of health needs, general health issues, developmental problems and physical needs are also covered. Our other charity of choice is the Warbirds Over Wanaka Community Trust and they also receive funds from the charity auction on the night.
