Come along and hear some winning flash fiction! The Northland winner of the National Flash Fiction Competition will be awarded a trophy and $50 and read their winning entry. The floor will then be open to all writers to share their stories and for the audience to be entertained with a series of short, engaging readings. Entry by koha.

This short-fiction genre of between 200-500 words is growing in popularity 'because life is short and so is some of the best fiction', and the event is organised by the Northland branch of the New Zealand Society of Authors.

And if you're keen to learn how to write flash fiction or hone your flash writing skills, there is a one-hour workshop led by flash fiction writer and editor Sian Williams before the public event. The workshop has a fee of $10 and you need to register at margareta.cahill@gmail.com to attend this event.
