This course is aimed at those who are on governance boards; firms that advise clients who are non-profit, charitable trusts, social enterprises; or employees in these organisations.

Non-profit organisations form a significant sector where many social and economic benefits are delivered in New Zealand. However, there are unique and significant risks and challenges to which they are exposed.

Course topics:
This course will equip those who are involved in non-profit organisations in:
- Understanding financial accounts
- Tracking financial performance as budget versus actual expenditure
- The importance of policies and procedures for financial governance
- Internal controls to safeguard your assets
- Financial delegations
- Managing risk and risk registers
- Relationships between senior staff and the governance board as one of trust, but one supported by evidence
- Responsibilities and professional liability
- Role of audit
- What charitable registration means and how to register
- Matching the strategic goals to financial performance

In additional to course materials provided at the seminar, Financial Fitness Training has an online learning centre which provides additional resources and activities for a period after the course has been completed.
