Darren Watson

Darren Watson has been playing his original brand of blues & soul since leading Chicago Smoke Shop to the top of the record charts in the late 1980s.

He's since gone on to international songwriting success, built a career as a performer and educator, working alongside legends of the blues like Keb Mo, Doug MacLeod, & even Chicago harmonica ace Billy Boy Arnold. More recently he somehow also found time to offend half of the country with his politically charged 2014 song & video 'Planet Key'. The song and video was banned from sale and broadcast by the Electoral Commission after it climbed high in the charts, making national headlines in August of that year.

As a solo acoustic performer Watson has been favourably compared to musicians like Taj Mahal & New Orleans' John Mooney. Live he brings re-workings of classic pre-war blues by artists like Skip James, Blind Blake, Robert Johnson, and Big Bill Broonzy to the party along with intelligent, catchy, new original songs.
