Tīeke (saddleback) were once near the brink of extinction but thanks to the hard work of DOC, island trusts and a number of committed New Zealanders – they're now seen as a conservation success story!

This Conservation Week, find out about how DOC and the Zoo are working to create more conservation success stories for our precious New Zealand species and learn what you can do to help.

Weekend activities (10 and 11 September)
10am – 3pm – Face painting
10.30am – Story Time
10.50am – Ectotherm keeper talk (The Islands)
11am and 2.30pm – Discover what’s living in your backyard
11.30am – Celebrating tīeke – a conservation success story
2pm – Attracting native birds to your backyard

Conservation Week activities (10 – 18 September)
10am – 3pm – DOC Information Station (The Islands)
10am - 3pm - Conservation Week activities with our zoo volunteers (The Forest)
1.30pm – Weta punga / Tuatara keeper talk (The Islands)
2pm – New Zealand birds keeper talk (The Forest)
