Multimedia artist Marisa Vodanovich and painters Siobhan Crowley, Rozana Lee, Tanya Milton, Christine Tizard and Kerryanne Wilson, all recent graduates from AUT or Unitec, collaborate for a compelling show that illustrates how chance is a dominant element in each of their practices. The six women are all gestural abstractionists, an energetic technique also known as action painting, made prominent by artists such as Jason Pollock. For each of them the process, and the spatial relationship between the marks on the canvas (or between objects) holds the key to understanding their works.
