A leading international pianist performs in two concerts of major works.

The Pettman National Junior Academy is proud to announce two concerts featuring the great Russian pianist Ekaterina Dershavina. Internationally renowned for her interpretations of Bach, Dershavina has taught at the Gnessin Russian Music Academy and is now a professor of piano at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory.

She is in New Zealand to present a full week masterclass for some of the country's best young pianists, as part of the Pettman Open Chamber Music Programme. During this short visit, Auckland music-lovers will have the opportunity to hear her perform some of the great of masterworks of the piano repertoire.

First, in a solo recital on Friday 10th June at the Auckland School of Music theatre, Dershavina plays works by Bach, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, and the early twentieth century Russian composer Nikolai Medtner. Then, on Tuesday 14th June at the St Heliers Community Centre & Church, she joins with noted German cellist Edith Salzmann, playing sonatas by Brahms and Shostakovich.
