Benthorseshoe presents Hobnail at the Hokowhitu Bowling Club on Saturday the 5th of March. Don’t miss this rare Palmerston North appearance by this much-loved celtic folk/rock band from Wellington.

They are celebrating their 21st birthday with a new album, “String Things” and dates around the country.

The evening will start off at 6.30 with a meal for those wanting it. Hobnail performs regularly all over New Zealand. They have appeared on Friday Live on National Radio several times, and have previously been finalists for Best Folk Album and twice for Best Country Song at the
New Zealand Music Awards.

The new album features songs from their entire career - some old favourites that deserved to be re-recorded, some new songs, and some cover versions that they have made their own but have never recorded. This is the album that many fans have been asking them to make for
years.

A Little History....
Take yourself back to a wet windy Wellington night in 1994. Rob Joass, Jo Moir and Gwyn
Reynolds step onto the stage at Molly Malones for the first time. Hobnail (then Hobnail Boots) soon expanded to a 5 piece, and have expanded and contracted regularly over the years. They have travelled\ the world, released 6 albums, raised families, lived lives and through it all have maintained their love of performing together. Rob (vocals and guitar)and Jo (vocals and violin) have been the mainstays from the beginning, with multi instrumentalist Hamish Graham joining not long after. Caroline Easther (drums and backing vocals) has been with the band for so long that nobody can remember exactly When she joined. Guests on this album include previous collaborators Wayne Mason (piano)and Alan Norman (accordion).

"Original songs with the authenticity of folk and the spirit of rock'n'roll"
