Cantoris

Baroque to Broadway
Join Cantoris for an evening of choral repertoire which will take you on a journey across the ages of music by much-loved composers. The concert will be led by the choir's newly appointed musical director Thomas Nikora. The programme aims to bring together two extremes in music; Vivaldi’s Gloria which is at the foremost of the choral repertoire, and well-known Broadway musical pieces from composers such as Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and CY Colman.

Thomas Nikora
Thomas was appointed as Cantoris’ musical director at the start of 2016. While this is his first appointment as a musical director Thomas is certainly not a new face in choir circles having sung with the Orpheus Choir, Nota Bene and Victoria Voices. He is the regular accompanist for Festival Singers and has also conducted them several items on their recent CD "People of the Light". An accomplished pianist, Thomas has performed concerts all over New Zealand and further afield in USA. He has also been a soloist with the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, Masterton Community Orchestra and Tawa Community Orchestra. Thomas' musical interests include musical theatre, opera, late Romantic composers and contemporary works. For more details of Thomas’ biography, please visit the choir's website.

The evening’s repertoire will be sure to entrance and delight. We look forward to seeing you at our Baroque to Broadway concert.

Tickets
You can purchase tickets from the choir's website, or door sales.
