Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This course is scheduled for 4 and 5 October 2016 and runs over two consecutive mornings. It is designed as a follow-up to our Part 1 and Part 2 Aspiring Young Cooks courses to extend the skills of our young cooks. For 8 - 12 year olds.

The same course is available in the July holidays as well.

Includes ingredients.

Course outline:
- Kitchen and Food Safety
- Reading Recipes
- Measuring Ingredients
- Preparation and Basic Knife Skill
- Basic Food Science and Nutrition Relating to Dishes
- Serving Food
- Cleaning Up After Cooking

Recipes include savoury cheese muffins, coconut oat squares, banana loaf, chocolate cake, savoury pinwheels, shortbread cookies.

Places are limited to 12 children per course.

Cost of ingredients is included in the course fee. Students should bring the following (preferably labelled) equipment:
- Two tea towels
- Apron
- Vegetable paring knife
- Cook's knife
- Containers or bags for leftovers
- Knives should be sharp to avoid cuts and accidents
