Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

The course runs Tuesday evenings 6 - 7:30pm starting 11 October 2016. The course comprises seven classes 11 Oct to 29 Nov excluding 15 November.

It uses the technique of vinyasa to link the poses together in a flowing sequence of movements, all tied to the breath. The practice combines strength, flexibility, and stamina so you leave the class feeling energised yet calm and relaxed.

Each class starts off with simple warm-up poses before getting into the stronger, more athletic Ashtanga sequence. For the final twenty minutes tutor, Sarah incorporates Yin Yoga poses to quieten the practice down. Yin yoga focuses on softening the muscles to work on the deeper 'yin tissues' of the body. This slower practice relaxes the body while quietening the mind, which balances out the more dynamic Ashtanga practice perfectly.

Sarah Moyes is a local yoga teacher who gained a Yoga Alliance registered 200-hour teaching certificate from the Auckland Yoga Academy. She will take you through a led class using the Ashtanga Yoga ; primary series method.
