  • Sun 2 Oct ’16, 10:30am – 2:30pm

New Zealand Maritime Museum, Corner Quay & Hobson Streets, Auckland CBD

All Ages

Ticket Information:

  • General Admission: $5.00

Get your fine art, antiques and seafaring treasures appraised at the New Zealand Maritime Museum as part of the Auckland Heritage Festival.

The museum is bringing the Antiques Roadshow-style event to the Auckland Waterfront.

Magnificent views across the museum’s marina and heritage vessels will be the perfect backdrop to a day of celebrating the public’s own collections and curiosities. The public is invited to bring along their own special and unique objects from home for information and evaluations by Hamish Walsh and Briar Williams. There will also be industry experts including a restorer, conservator and archivist as they work on their projects. Museum staff will also be around to give advice on how to store and care for your collections at home.

There will also be a pop-up exhibition of curiosities from the museum's own collection.

If you have larger items that are too difficult to transport, please bring a photograph for the values to look at.

Those who would like their items evaluated can register on the day.

How much does it cost?
Entry fee includes tea and coffee all day. Free evaluation! No additional charge for people bringing in their objects.

What could you bring?
You can bring 1-3 objects or artworks, and we encourage at least one to be maritime related.

Flags, paintings, prints, small sculptures, maritime equipment, memorabilia and the list goes on. Our appraisers will evaluate a variety of objects including fine art, sculpture, prints. We don't recommend bringing pennies, bone china or silver plate (EPNS).

The more information and history you already have on the object, the better. Please bring along what you have.

How does it work on the day?
When you arrive, head to the registration desk. You won’t miss it. You will be shown where to go and what to do from museum staff.

- 10:00am - Registration open, displays and tea and coffee available
- 10:30am - Evaluations start
- 2:30pm - Expected finish time
