Performing music of such beauty and wonder that one reviewer was led to remark "Do we deserve such dreams as these?", Antipodes prepares once again to take Aotearoa by storm.

This leading Australian-New Zealand jazz band draws from modern New York jazz to Swedish indie pop and European free improvised music. Prepare to be taken in by introspective, timbral improvisations and then set to foot-tapping with danceable beats, songlike melodies and virtuosic soloing.

After the concert members of Antipodes will host late-night jazz jam session, so bring your axe for an opportunity to play with these incredible musicians!

Antipodes was formed after a chance meeting of some of the members at a jam session in Berlin in 2013. The musical connection became immediately apparent and they began writing and performing original compositions together. This year's Freedman Jazz finalist, Sweeting from Sydney is a pianist known for his indelible work with a jazz-improv group the Grey Wing Trio. Saxophonist Baxendale, a key force behind the burgeoning Kiwi band The Jac, is one of the most energetic forces coming from the Wellington jazz scene.

Guitarist Callum Allardice is now achieving overdue recognition as a performer and composer of note, having received the inaugural APRA Best Jazz Composition Award. Joining the band at the Fairfield House concert are two Auckland musicians; expat Sydney-based bassist and National Jazz Awards Finalist Tom Botting and one of Sydney's leading drummers, Tim Geldens.
