Three documentaries by Margot McRae capture the beauty and history of two classic North Shore homes and the restoration of Auckland’s St James Theatre.

The first film captures the 92-year-old Chapman Taylor house at Rewiti Ave, Takapuna in all its original charm.

Another chronicles the quintessential New Zealand story of three generations of the Jackson family who occupied a villa in Jubilee Ave, Devonport for 117 years.

The St James Theatre, The Show Goes On, follows the first steps of the new owner and his heritage advisers as they come to grips with the work needed to restore and reopen the theatre after being closed to the public for seven years.

These homegrown films will be hosted by Devonport Heritage at Devonport’s historic Victoria Theatre, the country’s oldest operating cinema.
