The Jubilee Building, Then and Now - Exhibition

The iconic Jubilee Building in Parnell has a fascinating social and physical history from its beginnings as the first school for the blind anywhere in New Zealand to its current incarnation as a thriving community hub.

Come along to this week-long exhibition at the Jubilee Building. View photographs, video and plans of the building in use over the years, hear verbal histories from former students and read about the building's interesting history. This free exhibition is presented in association with the Blind Foundation and is accessible to vision-impaired attendees.

Other Parnell Trust Heritage Week activities include heritage walks, a talk by former Blind Foundation staff member Mary Schnackenberg and a kids’ historically-themed scavenger hunt.

Parnell Community Trust runs an exciting programme of Community Classes and Activities at Parnell Community Centre. Our July – December 2016 programme is now online, with flyers available now from Parnell Community Centre, central Auckland libraries and other local outlets. Let us know if you'd like us to mail you a copy - phone Robert on 09 555 5164.
