To celebrate World Design Day the Society of Experiential Graphic Designers invite you to visit The Pukeahu National War Memorial Park together with Neil Pardington the designer of the park’s environmental graphics.

World Design Day (WDD) is an opportunity to recognize the value of design and its capacity for change in the world – and to celebrate the birthday of ico-D.

The Pukeahu National War Memorial Park is the national place for New Zealanders to remember and reflect on New Zealand’s experience of war, military conflict and peacekeeping, and how that experience shapes their ideals and sense of national identity.
Neil has over 26 years experience as a designer, his portfolio spans both the corporate and arts sectors, his experience ranging from brand development and annual reports, to exhibition and graphic design for prominent New Zealand art galleries and museums. Considered one of New Zealand’s foremost designers, his work is regularly recognised at the Designers Institute of New Zealand Best Awards and BPANZ Book Awards. He has twice represented New Zealand at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Neil was the 2011 recipient of the Marti Friedlander Photography Award. Neil is of Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Kāti Waewae and Pākehā descent and is a graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.

Meet under the pavilion opposite the former Mount Cook Police Station.

Following the walkabout we will gather at a local venue for further discussion, networking and beverages!
