Whiria - Weaving Global Connections opens at Rotorua Museum on Saturday 28 March 2015.

Whiria, which means ‘to weave together’, features beautifully woven taonga (treasures) from private and public collections around the world.

The exhibition explores issues of sustainability and shows visitors what some of these materials look like in their natural state and how they are collected and prepared.

Showcasing some of Aotearoa’s most respected weavers alongside highly skilled international weavers, the exhibition examines the distinctive materials and processes used in indigenous weaving.

Whiria is on display at Rotorua Museum from 28 March until 7 June 2015.

Entry to the exhibition is included in Rotorua Museum’s admission price, which is free for Rotorua residents with relevant ID. General Museum admission: Adults $20, seniors $18 and children $8.

For further information please contact Rotorua Museum, phone 07 350 1814 or email rotoruamuseum@rdc.govt.nz
