Sam Johnson
Farm boy turned disaster recovery guru. The devastating Christchurch earthquake saw Sam raising the Student Volunteer to an astonishing 11,000 people through social media. Sam had the courage to build a team around an idea, move egos out the way and co-create an international movement that school kids, students, board room tables and politicians from Saudia Arabia to Brazil; right around the Pacific, are learning from. He was awarded Young New Zealander of the Year for his leadership, Communicator of the Year and received a Sir Peter Blake Leadership award.

Israel Cooper
A serial entrepreneur, Israel has worked at a Big Four accounting firm, been Chief Financial Officer of a robotics company, co-founded a software business and a construction company. He’s also on the board of Parachute Music, which is the largest music festival in the southern hemisphere. When the Christchurch earthquake hit, Israel knew he had to do something, so he co-founded a construction business with his father. Israel operates Buildtech. His trade marks for innovating for the social good of the industry and clients is clearly evident.

Steffan Browning

He won the John Manhire Award for Outstanding Contribution in 2008, one of the sector’s highest honours. Contributing significantly to the GE free movement, the Safe Food Campaign, Soil & Health Association of New Zealand, Pesticide Action Network: he shifted to national politics as government was helping large corporations exploit natural reserves. His powerful questions in the House safeguard New Zealand’s natural heartbeat.

Celine Carlisle

She started at Deloitte working with business financial strategies and systems. She has run several start-ups: importing medical supplies, designing clothing lines, a landscaping design company which propagates it’s own plants and founding a not-for-profit agency in Africa enabling women to survive the birthing process and become empowered by it. Building meaningful metrics through Industrial Organisational Psychology, her insights and research provide pragmatic, real value differences across organisations and leaders.

Alan Palmer
Programme Manager and Social Activist, Alan spent 20 years in construction management. In 2010 he travelled to Nepal for a mountain bike adventure. At the end of the trip his guide asked him, “Do you want to do more biking or do you want to see the real Nepal?” That simple question would eventually change Alan’s worldview. He was welcomed by the rural villages as a special guest and discovered a passion for education of disadvantaged children and their communities. Alan’s story is one of compassion in action and the power of education.

Jon Dolan
A Civil Engineer from Canterbury, Jon manages strategy, delivery and implementation of large metropolitan developments for new cities, up to 45km2 in size in the Middle East. Following the 2011 Christchurch NZ earthquakes, he returned home to help post disaster recovery and strategic redevelopment of the central city. Back in the Middle East he’s managing the delivery of a new 30km2 economic city in Doha, Qatar. His interests lie in the conveyancing of regional and national visions into public construction programmes. How do you inspire and lead brand new cities from idea to reality?
