In a year where freedom of expression is being severely tested, we ask whether the right to offend is absolute? What constraints, if any, should be imposed on this human right, and by whom? Establishing the parameters of the motion by presenting affirmative and negative positions are two internationally successful debaters from The University of Auckland Debating Society. Responding to their arguments are: The New Yorker media correspondent Ken Auletta; UK investigative journalist Nick Davies; English comedian and classicist Natalie Haynes; and Indian/Canadian novelist and scientist Jaspreet Singh. Audience votes taken beginning and end. Keeping things democratically on track will be chair Linda Clark.
