Quasars are the most luminous and powerful objects known in the universe, with a body of research rich in both brilliant insights and controversy.

Presented by Roland Izaczyk of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand (RASNZ) and the Wellington Astronomical Society, we're looking at quasars in the fifty years since they were discovered.

Discover the brilliant insights of astronomers and scientists who have studied these distant powerhouses, as well as their controversy. Meet the people who have helped to shape our understanding, and discover that astronomy is often helped along with DIY skills and hindered by doubts and debate.

Tuesday 18 July, 7pm. General admission applies, bookings advised.
Call Space Place at Carter Observatory on 04 910 3140 to book.
