“Gazza” and Mayor Tim..on a Spin !

Where would the world be without laughter ? That is the question Mayor Tim Shadbolt and Radio Host ,Gary McCormick will answer on their next trip around New Zealand.

“ Given Invercargill’s…shall we say, bracing climate, I have to say that humour is very important to us in Southland.” says Mayor Tim.
“ Up until recent times we have not seen ourselves as the Gold Coast of New Zealand ! But with global warming….well, its only a matter of time before our Parking Wardens are in bikinis!”

Gary McCormick makes his living from making people laugh early in the morning,on his MORE FM Breakfast Show with co-host Simon Barnett – he, who recently, with his dancing partner Vanessa, won Dancing With the Stars.
“I work with Simon, who was the world’s worst dancer until he did the TV programme. Which goes to show how competitive he is. I have to congratulate him through gritted teeth ! It all goes to show that life on the planet is absurd.”

Mayor Tim and Gary have known one another since they were arrested on a political protest on Parliament grounds
Back in the ‘seventies and spent the day in the cells at Wellington Police Station.
“I made a brilliant speech to the Magistrate about freedom of speech- but he didn’t seem to be listening !”

The pair have made a habit of visiting communities all over new Zealand with their comedy show.
“It’s a lot of fun,” says Mayor Tim, “ and we are passing on yarns and anecdotes which Kiwis of all ages enjoy.Telling yarns is an important part of our heritage.
And in our case, all of the stories are true !”
