'Dendrochronology: a technique of dating trees and timber by analysing their annular rings' by Dr Gretel Boswijk, Tree Ring Laboratory, School of Environment, University of Auckland

The technique of dating trees by examining their annular rings has been adapted for use with kauri in NZ. Given suitable samples of timber, the technique can be used in dating buildings and structures for heritage purposes, studying climate change, and other potentially useful scientific applications. The talk will outline the background to the establishment of the University of Auckland SENV Tree Ring Laboratory and their current work.
