The Court Jesters (Christchurch, NZ)

Beware! Monsters, ghosts, and ghouls take life before your very eyes when you bunk up at Camp Horror. Channelling the spirits of classic horror anthologies, campfire stories, and your weirdest nightmares, Tales From Camp Horror will make you scream, laugh, and soil your undies.

Tales From Camp Horror debuted in October 2014 as one of the company's Saturday showcase seasons of Scared Scriptless. Five shows, featuring three Tales each, were performed. No records survive, but the screams were pretty intense.

DIrector Andrew Todd wears a lot of hats, in the metaphorical sense. He is an improviser with the Court Jesters; a freelance sound and video designer; director of NZ feature film Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws, writer for Birth.Movies.Death, GamePlanet, and The Spinoff, and the Christchurch city manager for 48HOURS Furious Filmmaking. TALES FROM CAMP HORROR is his brainchild, inspired by horror anthologies like Creepshow, V/H/S, and Night Train to Terror.

Based at the Court Theatre in Christchurch, The Court Jesters have been running Scared Scriptless, Australasia's longest-running comedy show, for over 20 years. Alumni include Cal Wilson, Court Theatre Artistic Director Ross Gumbley, Javier Jarquin, and the late Kevin Smith, and members of The Court Jesters have gone on to found or co-found Snort (Auckland), Playshop (Wellington), and Body In Space (Nelson). A company of around 20 Jesters perform two late-night improv shows a week (Friday night short-form comedy and Saturday night themed long-form) and provide corporate entertainment, improv training, and other acting services throughout New Zealand.

The New Zealand Improv Festival serves up a smorgasbord of improvised theatre to Wellington, New Zealand, all performed by the country’s top companies and practitioners. With 20 shows in just five days, there's something for everyone - comedy, horror, music, poetry and more!
