Open Thursdays and Sundays at this museum, kids and big kids alike love to see the 1892 McLaren Traction Engine and steam engines, all moving and watching how they work. Much of the industrial and agricultural machinery from a bygone era is a unique display and are based around the local history of Rotorua featuring examples of the Mamaku Logging and Milling Industry. In the original 1906 Whakarewarewa Post Office, telecommunications of the past to today will be found and 1920 Street is full of wonderful examples of living and shopping. The 1925 Douslin House, the original farm house, shows furniture and appliances of that time. Children love the train rides and pumping water at the water features too. Come through the school holidays to this "Hidden Treasure" museum.
