Save the date for the most action packed day of the year! Auckland’s favourite Volunteer and Emergency Services open day Staying Alive is returning for a second year

This free outdoor event showcases the day-to-day work and responsibilities of the New Zealand Fire Service, New Zealand Police, St John Ambulance, Civil Defence, and other emergency service rescue teams and community groups. Join in for a fun-filled family day of live displays including road crash rescue demonstrations, police dogs showing off their training skills, and much much more! Kids can have a go at the firefighter combat challenge; Water Safe Auckland will be demonstrating essential water safe activities and the Steam tug Daldy will be taking tours of the harbour throughout the day.

"If you've got little ones who want to be firefighters or paramedics, or want to get close to a police dog, then this is the day for them." New Zealand Fire Service planning and intelligence officer Terry Hewitt says.

"This event gives the public a rare opportunity to meet and interact with all our emergency service providers and see firsthand what they do. For all the emergency services the focus is on saving lives and one of our key goals is to see every home fitted with working smoke alarms. The key is to keep everyone safe and education is the way to achieving that goal."

Gold coin donations collected on the day will go to Burns Support.
