Chroma Chamber Choir's Spring Concert will showcase some of their favourite music, where their audience can round out a busy Saturday morning in town by dropping in to Old St John on Hardy Street at 1 pm, 5th September, to listen to a peaceful soundscape of choral gems from Bach to Verdi. Three of Morten Lauridsen's famous collection of sacred motets, “Lux aeterna”, composed in 1997, will feature, as well as his famous “O magnum mysterium”. These are the most often-performed works by an American composer and are internationally loved by choirs who appreciate his lovely harmonic textures and beauty of sound. Other favourite pieces are Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine, the haunting “Lux aurumque” by Eric Whitacre, and Verdi's “Pater Noster”, an Italian rendition of the Lord's Prayer, with Verdi at his operatic best. Bach, Brahms and Barber round out the hour-long concert.
