Wagons have managed to capture the growling sounds of the American South, despite not living in the United States. Hailing from Melbourne, the group is the brainchild of singer- songwriter and fearless showman Henry Wagons. The band combines rowdy country-rock with a dramatic Nick Cave-inspired delivery, creating their own unique take on country music with a talent for taking the audience on a roller coaster ride from hard hitting rock to tender tributes. Unanimously lauded as one of Australia's great live bands, they relentlessly provide a high energy, stage stomping show no matter which venue they take over.

Wagons sixth album, Acid Rain and Sugar Cane is both an introduction and an invitation to an unforgettable musical journey. Co-produced by Mick Harvey (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey), Acid Rain and Sugar Cane is a multi-layered masterpiece filled with drinking songs and driving songs (though never the two shall meet).

The past few years have seen Wagons share stages around the world with Lucinda Williams, Justin Townes Earle, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zero’s, Calexico, Bill Callahan, Will Oldham, Okkervil River, John Hiatt plus more along with SXSW, Canadian Music Week and Americana showcases, plus festival appearances at Big Day Out, Bumbershoot (USA), Laneway Festival, Bluesfest, Boogie, Pyramid Rock, Falls Festival and loads more.

But don’t snooze on this show - it will be one of their last performances for a while as Wagons as Henry will be embarking on some solo projects soon after.

Tom Cunliffe and band will be special guests for the Wagons show. Having just recorded his debut album in Lyttelton, Tom describes himself as a story-singer of ragged songs. Used to dragging his guitar through NZ’s back alleys and dive bars, Cunliffe is looking forward to stepping things up with the release of his debut album later this year.
