The Centre for Defence and Security Studies, Massey University presents a series of lectures on The South China Sea Tensions. On Friday 4 September 2015 Justice Antonio Carpio, Senior Associate Justice of the Philippine Supreme Court will give a free public lecture on the Philippine perspective. He will discuss the current UNCLOS arbitration case at The Hague, the merit of the Chinese claims of sovereignty in the South China Sea, and the wider implications for international law and security.

A Cartographic Exhibit of ancient maps of the South China Sea will be on display at the National Library during the lecture. This inaugural lecture is in collaboration with the Embassy of the Philippines in Wellington.
