Whether you are a novice or an expert knitter – please feel welcome to come along and help whenever you can - 12.30-2.30 first Friday of every month. We are grateful for the use of the local Beach Haven Community House where we meet and for the donations of wool we receive.

During the Great Depression more than eighty years ago, a youngster named Peggy Cook (nee Huse) started a volunteer Kiwi movement that made thousands of knitted blankets. These were originally made up from six inch “Peggy Squares” which were knitted by children. They helped keep New Zealand warm. Our group, like many others, was started by Adair Eady who is the daughter of the originator - Peggy Cook.

Our blankets are made of small squares - made with love by volunteers of the Beach Haven Peggy Purl group and given away to babies and Seniors in our neighbourhood who will appreciate them. Feel free to drop in any wool you may have to donate. Please feel free to join our group.
or alternatively – feel free to knit squares for us and just drop them in to the House.

Made with love -Locals helping locals
