Friends of Rotorua Museum present a talk by renowned wildlife photographer, Kurien ‘Koshy’ Yohannan, on Thursday 17 September 2015 at 5.30pm.

Yohannan will showcase a selection of his work and will talk about his style of photography, his views on photography as an art form, and why he works in this field.

Based in Rotorua, Kurien ‘Koshy’ Yohannan, has been a wildlife and bird photographer for more than eight years with his work being recognised in the United Kingdom, India, and more recently New Zealand.

Initially photography started out as a hobby for Koshy and soon turned into a passion. It is this passion that motivates him to capture pictures of birds and wildlife and document their lives for all to see.

Yohannan is fascinated with the New Zealand falcon (kārearea) which has seen him become a permanent sight around Rotorua Museum and at Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre. As a result of this relationship he was invited as the official photographer for the New Zealand contingent to the third International Falconry Festival in the United Arab Emirates last year.
More recently Yohannan was awarded a special judges commendation at the 2015 Rotorua Museum Art Awards for his work Hung Out To Die.

Join the Friends of Rotorua Museum at 5.30pm for a complimentary glass of wine followed by the talk at 6pm. Tickets are on sale at Rotorua Museum reception from 3 August and cost $10 for Friends members or $15 for non-members. Seats are limited. For more information contact Don Hunt by email annedon@clear.net.nz or phone 07 348 7680 in evenings.
