Outer Limits `World Ranking' Auckland Open Billiards

World #1 Mr Peter Gilchrist (Singapore) is coming to Auckland to compete after having played in Christchurch the weekend before.

Mr Peter Gilchrist is the ONLY man living who has had ... 2x 1000 breaks in this unbelievably highly skilled game. They are ... 1,346 and a 1,000 exact.

Radio Sports (1332am) presenter, Mr Mark Watson will be doing a one hour interview with this World Champion on the Wednesday evening (16th Sept) on his `Night Train' program. TV and Newspapers will be turning up to do their thing over the 3 competition days.

Current NZ Open Billiard Champion, Devonport's Grant Hayward who himself has been world ranked as high as #25 is really looking forward to playing Gilchrist.

While under no illusions, the `lucky lotto' Paper Power shop owner is hoping to keep this classy cueist honest.

Hayward himself has to get past some other hopeful Internationals. India has sent Sushrut Pandia, England has Peter Shelley and Andrew Draper while Australia has the popular and evergreen Brian Moulday. There will be other local hopes as well.

When does New Zealand have a World #1's here at any sport ?

The writer is not one to cause trouble .. BUT ... if you are getting married make sure you pop in the day before. If you are having a baby, try to hold off till the next day. If you are working and have `sick days' up your sleeve, use one. Don't miss this talent.

Snooker World has great `viewer setting' and on the Saturday 19th September when the `Final' is played (about 11.30am to 3pm), there is a full sized Billiard Table with `Crucible' 6811 - 30oz Strachan green cloth ... right in front of the viewing stand.

Snooker World is the home of Auckland's Cue Sports.
Cue Sport is a great Sport... one only needs reasonable eyesight and be tall enough.
Over one million people in NZ have held a cue. Impressive figures as most have to be over 18 years old to be allowed to enter places to play.
Snooker World is a great place to take family and friends ... to `hold a cue', or watch and eat.
