Good Clean Fun for children and their parents!

Playcentres around New Zealand are gearing up for good clean fun events to celebrate Playcentre Awareness Week 1-7th March 2015. Playcentre Awareness Week promotes the value of parent-led early education and community involvement. This year’s focus of “Good Clean Fun” is about getting out into the community and doing good for others – whilst having heaps of fun too! It highlights the enjoyment both parents and children can have when they learn and play together and the huge benefits the close connection of learning with their parents has for children in the early years. It provides parents an opportunity to make an informed choice about early childhood education and an opportunity for individual Playcentres to promote their centres.

At Playcentre children and their families play and learn together, developing skills and relationships that last a lifetime. Groups of parents collectively supervise and teach the children attending half-day sessions. Parents are offered free NZQA recognised training in child development, positive guidance, non-violent child management, communication, and administration skills for a community group. Parents often move on from Playcentre to become involved in many other areas of their communities. Children learn in a supportive play environment to develop the curiosity and courage to try new things and the motivation to extend themselves. Playcentre is unique !
