Jamaine Ross

As a Maori from Christchurch, you’d think that Jamaine Ross has experienced his fair share of racism. But it turns out, he’s experienced very little. Either that or he can’t recognise it when he sees it, which would make for a very confusing show, so let’s forget that’s a possibility. To right this wrong, Jamaine has set out on a journey of self-discovery, to experience discrimination where ever he can. Basically by hanging around white people and saying ‘Bro’ a lot. A fool proof plan.

It’s a show about love, hate and judging people based solely on the colour of their skin. Not in that order.

Jamaine Ross is quickly establishing himself as a mainstay on the New Zealand comedy circuit.

He won the Raw Comedy Quest in 2012, opened for Tenacious D on their New Zealand tour in 2013, and was nominated for the prestigious Billy T Award in 2014. In 2015, he’s a regular panelist on 7 Days, and a writer on Jono and Ben at Ten.

On top of his comedy achievements, he has competed in the Rialto Channel 48 Hours Furious Filmmaking Competition as co-writer and co-star of National Finalist films in both 2012 and 2013.

‘Hilariously funny… very intelligent and accessible” – Chelsea Hughes, The Ruminator

‘Probably the most charming man in New Zealand comedy’ – Courteney Peters, Gather & Hunt

‘I’ve known this guy for 30 years. Actually, he’s my son’ – Jack Black, International Comedy Superstar
