NZTRIO presents
ART3 : Surge
Performed by Justine Cormack, Ashley Brown and Sarah Watkins

Art3 sees NZTrio returning to City Gallery Wellington with two concerts on the 16th of September and 10th of November, each featuring a delightful French romantic work, a brand new offering from a local talent, and a twist from a Great. Audiences will once again be treated to to the combination of audio and visual, as the musicians respond to the breathtaking new Fiona Pardington exhibition now on at the gallery.

On the evening of September 16, Art3: Surge will kick off with Frederic Chopin’s: Piano Trio in g minor, Opus 8. Chopin’s only Piano Trio is a dramatic and passionate piece written before he even reached 20 years of age! The trio will follow with the world premiere of The Faraday Cage, a new work from Napier-born David Hamilton commissioned by NZTrio. This beautiful work responds to the idea of sparks and electric current running around the surface of an object. The final hurrah for the evening is a work by the legendary Camille Saint-Saens. Composed in his prime; Piano Trio No.2, Opus 92 promises to charm and transport audiences.

2015 has been another jam packed year for NZTrio, kicking off with performances at Auckland Arts Festival’s cultural extravaganza White Night, before heading South to Wanaka’s Festival of Colour and the Nelson Arts Festival. August saw NZTrio travelling to Australia to perform in the 18 day Darwin Festival. Having played alongside theatre groups, historical film footage and international folk and jazz musicians, NZTrio are no strangers to collaboration and their Art3 Series is a mix of music and art like no other.
