Te Moata Retreat, 180 Paul Rd, Tairua

All Ages

Cost $350 (includes the teaching, accommodation and 3 healthy delicious vegetarian meals a day). Early bookings are essential

This residential weekend retreat will be held in the stunning natural Sanctuary of Te Moata and will evolve around the contemplation of the Seven Factors of Awakening:

1. Awareness (sati)
2. Joy (piti)
3. Peace (pasadhi)
4. Concentration (samadhi)
5. Energy (viriya)
6. Inquiry (brahma vichara)
7. Equanimity (upekkha)

What are these factors and how can they aid you in your life and practice? Being able to notice their opposites (dullness, restlessness, distraction, apathy, grasping, doubt etc.. ). With awareness comes the choice and realization that these mental states or factors are available to us through the practice of mindfulness. Eventually we are able to realize what we feed with our attention, what is to be encouraged and what is to be abandoned and let go of. In this way we can become skillful gardeners tending with care the garden of our mind, allowing the positive energies of awakening to flourish and negative habitual mental states to pass away.

Teacher – Maya Nova

Maya has completed a number of long retreats and is always learning about life. She lives with her two glorious teenage children and a cat in Devonport, rides her bike about the place and enjoys playing music, doing yoga, growing veggies, and living as mindfully as she is able.

“Maya has a presence, an aura; her calm delivery is perfect from me, she just feeds your soul” - Charlotte
