This is a social event designed to get people out for a walk along the Rotary Pathway, there will be prizes for each man and woman who comes first and second in The Mega and HB Today Half Mega who enter The Hogs Breath Cafe Challenge. Only participants who enter The Challenge will be timed.

All proceeds raised will again go to CanTeen and be put towards the wonderful activities and camps they provide for their members. In the last 4 years we have been supporting CanTeen with this event we have raised over $75,000!

We have designed 4 events to cater to all fitness levels and physical abilties. We have a varied array of participants from the very young to the young at heart and the finely tuned athletes to those with physical challenges who have inspired us and shown great determination in completing the event.

The MEGA is a 28km run or walk. The event starts at Mitre 10 MEGA, Hastings at 7.30am. Participants will follow a clearly defined route through Hastings to the Showgrounds. The course then heads towards Whakatu before joining the Rotary Pathway at Pakowhai Park, adjacent to the Chesterhope Bridge. It then follows the Pathway to Ahuriri. The finishline is at Mitre 10 Mega, Napier.

The Hafele Half Mega is a 15km run or walk that starts at Awatoto, opposite the southern end of the Fertiliser Works, at 9am. This event also follows the Rotary Pathway and finishes at Mitre 10 MEGA, Napier.

The Dunlop Short Mega is a 6.5km version which starts behind Ocean Spa on the Marine Parade at 10am.

The Hits Mega Meander is a 3.5km walk or meander starting at 10.00am at Perfume point at Ahuriri.

There is no competitively timed aspect to this years event.

Volunteer marshals needed. If you would like to support CanTeen but are not able to tackle the walk you can still be of help to this wonderful charity. Marshals are required throughout the course to point people in the right direction and across roads safely. If you can spare and hour or two on Sunday please email Kerrie at CanTeen on HawkesBay@canteen.org.nz
