Nyane means 'awaken' in the Twi language of Ghana.
Come along to learn and discover the incredible power and affirming nature of African drumming.
Nyane class: if you have never played, or have had less than 2 cycles of drumming.

'Jennifer’s teaching style is simplistic, her enthusiasm for all things music is infectious and she can have a bunch of strangers sounding like rock stars in no time at all.’

What happens in the Nyane class?

-have fun
-learn basic technique on the djembe (bass, tone and slap) with fun games & exercises
-develop control & listening skills
-explore basic musical concepts
-play group solos
-work together to become an ensemble
-prepare simple arrangements for performance
-appreciate West African music, including traditional songs

No experience required
