Paris-based contemporary music ensemble soundinitiative are a group of internationally renowned performers that hail from Australia, Belgium, China, France, England, Italy, Poland and the United States.

In this concert, they will perform music of contemporary French composers including Grisey, Hurel, Pesson, Bertrand, alongside a new work by NZSM Senior Lecturer Michael Norris. Entitled ‘Khoomei Loops’ this work is an hommage to the French spectralist tradition, as well as being inspired by the Mongolian vocal traditions of throatsinging.

Since its formation in Paris in 2011, the group's activity has centred around the interpretation of contemporary repertoire, close collaboration with established and emerging composers to create new pieces, and the development of musical events with a strong emphasis on scenography and the physical and visual interaction with the audience.

Free entry - no booking required.
