Breigh Fouhy (Outrageous Fortune, Shortland Street) brings to life the world of (Alice) Mabel Atkinson. Mabel grew up at Fairfield House in the late 1800s, and came from an accomplished and extraordinary extended family group. Her Uncle Harry Atkinson was NZ Premier, her father and brother were politicians and her family members helped establish Nelson College for Girls.

But what of Mabel? She was a midwife, an early physiotherapist, World War One nurse and suffragette. She never married. Now in 2015, eighty years after her death, she returns to Fairfield House, the home she loved. She has something she wants us to know…

Mabel is intimate, historical, powerful theatre incorporating multi-media and live performance.
