The first of the series of local walks for the Leigh Coastal Walks series, this 2hr guided walk of the Goat Island Coastal Walkway, has been added as part of the 2015 Ecofest North event. Other dates are for Leigh Coastal Walks are: Fri 17 & Sat 18 April. Limited numbers for walks so register early on the website. Registrations open March 1.

The walkway offers spectacular views of many Hauraki Gulf islands. It is a well formed track suiting all ages and abilities, that starts uphill, passing through replanted farmland and overlooking the Goat Island Marine Reserve. It follows the cliff edge, then passes through regenerating bush before emerging above Tabletop Reef. The walks continues across farmland to Cape Rodney Road, looping around the farmland with more spectacular views, before rejoining the track and returning to the start.

The walk will finish and allow a lunch break and time to allow those interested, to attend a talk at the Auckland University Marine Discovery Centre, by an Auckland University graduate student on: Sounds of Whales and Dolphins. "The Importance of Sound Sustainability for Whales and Dolphins in the Hauraki Gulf.
Admission cost to Discovery Centre applies. Family $20 (2 Adults, 2 children under 16.) Adults $9 Children $5

Proceeds of walk to Local Emergency Services.
