Samba de Gafieira is a dance expression of the Brazilian samba rhythm also found in many contemporary, r'n'b and popular music. Dancers enjoy Gafieira because of its vitality and room for creativity. It is usually an elegant partner dance, although in artistic performances it is not uncommon to add solo steps of Samba no Pé or Carnival. it is the ideal compliment to Zouk Lambada in terms of strengthening lead and follow technique and for toning fitness not covered in the Zouk training.

Zouk has captured the hearts of many people around the world and has been called "the dance of love". With its strong, flowing movements, Zouk attracts people who are generally strong and grounded, and looking for a dance that emphasizes interdependent partner interaction. The dance is close with an intimate partner connection. Dancers often deviate from the general rhythm to allow for musical interpretation. The pace of the dance is generally slow and smooth.

In this course we will progress you through the fundamentals of Samba de Gafieira and Zouk Lambada with variations that are easy to freestyle. This course is suitable for first time dancers, beginners, improvers and experienced Zouk dancers. Dancers of other dance genres will enjoy the styling and options Zouk can offer.

The Dance Factory also offers opportunities to build on what is taught in class with one-on-one sessions, visiting international teachers, social dance parties and performances. These of course are optional.
