"A Tangible Presence" is a joint show by Wairarapa's Leanne Taylor and Linda Tilyard. Both tutors at Masterton's King Street Artworks, the pair paint, and work in ceramics and textiles. A focus on the feminine is a common thread in both their work over the years.

Leanne says "My work is about domestic and social life for women and in some aspects, my own mother. Colour and design feature in my work. It seems a mother themed show due to both Linda and I losing ours last year though not the main reason. "
Leanne has been been working with textiles for the past 20 years, starting with screen printing onto fabric and going on to explore many aspects of textile art though her label "Ramari".

Linda describes hers as a body of work exploring "ideas of loss, time and presence - the essence of a life lived, love and memory. These works have been part of my personal reaction to the loss of my Mother, though it's in no way a memorial or specifically focused on grief...more on a feminine principle" .
Linda, a graduate of ILAM in the 1980s, has been practicing art all her life. A King St tutor for 20 years, she also taught at UCOL, and has a passion for Art History well as painting and sculpture. Linda has a studio in Masterton open to visits and is available for commission portraits.

We invite you to join us for the opening event Friday 4 September 5pm - 6.30pm
