Otaki Museum

The exhibition features the history of Kapiti Island. The island is a very important part of Kapiti. It gives us its name and is a prominent part of our landscape. There are strong connections to Otaki as well. It is well known as a nature reserve today but its history has been much more diverse.

The exhibition includes the early Maori settlement on the island, the impact of the whalers, the farming that took place there, and the conservation activities that have occurred over the years.

The exhibition will close at 2pm on Saturday 26 March 2016 (Easter Saturday). The museum will not be open on Good Friday (25 March).
