This workshop offers a safe and fun introduction to
Māori language in a supportive and friendly environment.

This workshop will include proper pronunciation of greetings, basic sentence structure, conversational language and introduce new vocabulary.

Whether you are a total beginner or someone who wants to upskill, this course will be useful to anyone wanting to be comfortable around Māori language.

Matiu Huki, of Ngati Kahungunu and Rangitane decent, has been teaching te reo Māori for over 20 years. Matiu is currently the Māori Cultural Adviser for the Wellington and NZ Kindergarten Associations and is teaching kapa haka in many Kindergartens and schools. Matiu has a background in teaching in primary, secondary and adult environments, performing arts (both traditional kapa haka and contemporary theatre). He established the Māori Performing Te Whānau Puawai Ora and is an emerging singer/songwriter. His teaching style is fun and friendly.
