With live music and Welsh cakes, Hiraeth explores the decline of Welsh tradition and identity through one woman's struggle to escape and let go.

In 1989, a farmer’s wife gave birth to a girl named Buddug James Jones. In that moment, she became heir to the family’s 300-year-old farming dynasty.

Twenty-two years later, Bud is restless. Desperate to leave the James Jones historic home - Blaengwyddon Fawr - she wrestles with the knowledge that her departure will sound the death knell for the family business. Leaving generations of James Jones tradition behind her, she sets out alone for the big smoke ...

Hiraeth (noun) is a Welsh word with no direct translation. It is a longing for one’s homeland, but it’s not mere homesickness. It’s an expression of the bond one feels with one’s home country when away from it.
