Harcourt/Robinson Open Billiards Championship

Past NZ Billiards Champions , Herbie Robinson and Bill Harcourt were both Legends and respected personalities of Billiards in New Zealand,

Therefore a very strong field is expected.

Two Englishmen have entered. They are Andrew Draper and a long time visitor to NZ, Peter Shelley who incidently has won many NZ Provincial Titles, the most notable, the "NZ Open Billiards".

Dunedin's Dennis McCaughan is a welcomed addition. Wellingtonian's Malcolm Cooke, Russ Deluhunty, Neil Gyde, Ross McNab, past NZ Billiards Champion Derek Gibb, current North Island Champion ZacGuja,, and Snooker players trying for this coveted Trophy are Terry Jordan, Jim Parkin, Mark Hannah and Cameron Rowe.

A `blast from the past' Pat Edwards has entered. He is definitely the `smokey' and the Bookie's need to be very careful when putting up `opening odds' for this Billiard player who was many years ago said to be `the next best thing' at this sport.

Probably one of the main reasons the Players have entered is to shake the hand of Herbie Robinson's son who will present the Trophies.

Mr Russell Robinson has to be one of the nicest people every born in NZ. Himself a fabulous Billiard player having represented NZ at many World Championships, he will prove to still be the `star of the event'.

The Porirua Club is always a good Club to visit. Don't be shy to chat with the players, ask questions ... and enjoy the high skill shown by them.
