Recent Fulbright-Wallace Award winner Phil Dadson and Dr Tanya O’Neill of The University of Waikato will discuss aspects of their research work in Antarctica. Dr Tanya O’Neill is a recent post-doctorate teacher and researcher based at the Faculty of Science, The University of Waikato. She has conducted research in Alaska, the Tibetan Plateau, Vanuatu, PNG, the Chatham Islands, and Antarctica. Tanya has travelled to Antarctica four times : two for her PhD on human impacts on the soil environment, one to the Antarctic Peninsula as a field assistant with the Spanish Antarctic Programme. Her first trip in 2007 was to run a marathon on the continent.

Phil Dadson is a sound and intermedia artist with a trans-disciplinary practice including video and sound installation, sound sculpture, experimental musical instruments, music composition and improvised performance. Phil travelled to Antarctica in 2003 on the Antarctica New Zealand and Creative New Zealand Artist-to-Antarctica Fellowship.
