Emergence 2nd Birthday

Sorry this event has been and gone

  • Sat 7 Nov ’15, 9:00pm

Valhalla, 154 Vivian Street, Wellington

Emergence is back and very proud to be presenting the Return of Advanced Human on what is shaping up to be an epic night of Proper Techno in the capital. Since his last NZ visit, Advanced Human started putting on successful label nights in Sydney, and also regularly played gigs in Melbourne, with more recent bookings taking him to DJ at places such as Seco, Origami, Dommune in Tokyo, Circus, Compufunk in Osaka, Swallowtail in Kyoto, and Vurt in Seoul aswell as running a string of record labels under Elekrax Music, and still finding time in the studio to produce and release quality tracks.

For us Emergence started two years ago as a bit of fun and we are blown away by the fact we have reached our 2nd birthday, none of this would be posible without the support of our clubbers who pay on the door and keep Emergence alive. We have had our ups and downs over this period but one thing that was a gaurentee is, the return of Advanced Human to Emergence. He riped Rush bar to pieces with his amazing Dj set and there is no doubt he will deliver the goods at Valhalla on the 7th of November.

Inspired by the early electronic sounds of Detroit and Chicago, along with nascent German techno and the underground sounds of Belgian New Beat, Advanced Human struck out on his own versatile music career in 1988 as DJ Hi-Shock.

In recent years he has developed and helms the wildly successful Elektrax Music label group (which includes Elektrax Recordings, Gynoid Audio, Android Muziq, Darknet, Translucent, Achromatiq & Hypnotic Room).

As DJ Hi-Shock, and also under his recent Advanced Human alias, he has released his own sounds through labels like Gynoid Audio, Synewave, Chroma, Slap Jaxx, Impact Mechanics, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Naked Lunch and Translucent, along the way being charted and played by the likes of Tommy Four Seven, Adam Beyer, Gayle San, Luke Slater, Chris Liebing, Damon Wild and Dave Clarke amongst others.

On top of these inroads, DJ Hi-Shock has remixed the likes of Mark Broom, Ken Ishii, Gayle San, Chris Finke, Bas Mooy, Octave, Kai Randy Michel, DAVE The Drummer, or Ade Fenton, and furthermore performed alongside a wad of ultimate DJ/producers like Sven Väth, Kevin Saunderson, Audio Injection, Truncate, Oliver Lieb, Thomas P. Heckmann, Mijk van Dijk, Jammin' Unit, Industrialyzer, and many more over the years.

Currently his trademark sound is based on exploring the uncharted terrains of Deep/Gritty Techno, that is rich with dub chords and crunchy atmospheres surrounded by intricate percussion and a drive aimed at the dance floor.
